Dr. Stacey M. Howlett

     Dr. Howlett is a native of Western New York.  She began her career in dentistry at age 17 after enlisting in the U.S. Army as a Dental Assistant.  
After 10 years of active duty in Texas, North Carolina and Germany, and further training as a military Dental Hygienist then NCOIC - Practice Manager, she eventually used her G.I. Bill benefits to pursue a career as a Dentist.
     Since graduating in 1998 from the University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine, Dr. Howlett has completed a Fellowship at the University of Washington in Seattle, served a two-year term as President of the St. Lawrence County Dental Society, and is now a retired commissioned officer of the U.S. Army Reserve Dental Corps  with over 21 years of military service.  
       Dr. Howlett has practiced family dentistry in Potsdam since 1998 and currently resides in Norwood, NY.
 
Dr. Janel L. Smith

     Dr. Smith joined the practice in August 2008 after being affiliated with our practice as a job shadow since her freshman year at Clarkson University in 1999.
     Dr. Smith earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biomolecular Science from Clarkson University in 2003, and a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree Magna Cum Laude from the University Of Buffalo School Of Dental Medicine in May 2007.  Dr. Smith completed her training with a post-graduate residency program at St. Joseph’s Hospital Health Center in Syracuse in June 2008.
     Dr. Smith is the daughter of Lowell and Adrienne Smith of Madrid, New York. She is a 1999 graduate of Madrid-Waddington Central School and currently resides in Hannawa Falls, NY.

Students and Job Shadows

     Our practice takes great pride in mentoring and encouraging young people who are interested in careers in dentistry. Students may pursue experience toward careers in dentistry, as well as dental assisting, dental hygiene, dental laboratory technician, and dental practice management . Over the years, we have helped sponsor over 20 local high school and college students through programs such as the St. Lawrence BOCES Allied Health Program as well as individual opportunities toward experience. 
Upon completion of their formal training some students and job shadows have returned to our practice as new team members.
